A “better block” is coming to the Valoris HealthPark Garland Medical District! The Dallas-based Better Block Foundation and the City of Garland are working to make Garland a more vibrant place to live, work and gather as a community.

Together, in a community-led innovation process, the nonprofit and the City have reimagined Clara Barton Boulevard into a linear street park, where residents and visitors to the Garland Valoris HealthPark can enjoy art and fitness amenities through Sunday, Oct. 23. 

The park will open with a kickoff weekend Friday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 8. From 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, guests can enjoy a Happy and Healthy Hour. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, guests can enjoy a Fall Fit Festival.

Both days will feature fitness classes, food and drinks, a live DJ, local art demos, pet adoptions and much more! Flu vaccines will be available according to the Garland Public Health clinic fee schedule. COVID-19 vaccines will be available at no cost.

During the kickoff, Garland residents and visitors will have the unique opportunity to provide real-time feedback on the urban design process for Valoris. Master planned improvements for the medical district include walkability, connectivity, and sidewalk, street and landscaping design.

• Face Painting

• Boogie Nights Pop Up
• Salsa lessons (1 to 2 p.m.)
• Zumba and Yoga (11 a.m. to noon)
• Mobile Spin Class (noon to 1 p.m.)
